Questions

What families ask

How does admissions work?

Visit, apply, hear from us and register. Applications open in January for the fall a year away, and decisions go out in late March.

When are the open houses and visit days?

Open houses are in November. Visit days run on most Thursdays from January to March, and the office can find another morning if those do not fit.

Can we visit before applying?

Yes. A visit day is a morning in a classroom and a talk with the head of school. Children are welcome to come along.

What is a day like?

Buses arrive in the morning, classes gather for a song and a Bible story, and the day moves through reading, math, recess, lunch and afternoon lessons. Buses and cars leave from the loop at the end.

How does tuition work, and how do we ask about aid?

Tuition is set by the year and the grade band, and billed by the month, the term or the year. Financial aid is available; here is how to apply: an aid form follows the application.

How big are the classes?

Every grade has its own teacher, and each teacher knows every child in the room by name.

What about lunch, dress and phones?

Families send lunch from home. The dress guide asks for plain shirts and pants in navy, grey or white. Phones stay in a bag or at home during the day.

Is there care before and after school?

Yes. Early care opens at 7:15 a.m. and after care closes at 5:30 p.m., billed by the month for the days a family uses.

How does the bus work?

Four routes run from towns across the county, and the town loop covers Pella. Ask the office about a stop near your farm.

When do we hear back after applying?

Decisions go out in late March by letter and by phone. If a grade is full, we offer a place on the waitlist.
