Three stages of the school

What children read, make and practice, by grade band.

Kindergarten to grade 2
Children learn to read with phonics and read-alouds, count and build with their hands, and begin each day with a song and a Bible story.
- Reading groups every morning
- Math with blocks and counting beads
- Walks around the school grounds
Grades 3 to 5
Cursive and paragraph writing, multiplication and fractions, a long look at Iowa and the Midwest in history, and a garden bed that every class tends.

Grades 6 to 8
Pre-algebra and algebra, a science notebook, literature and essays, and a service project in town each term.

Classes

Classes by grade and by day

Every grade has its own teacher. The school day starts at the same time for everyone, and Wednesday begins with chapel.

Application: Covers reading the application and meeting the child. Due when a family applies.
Enrollment: Holds a place after an offer is accepted.
Books and supplies: The texts and materials for the year, ordered by the school.
Bus route: Billed by the month for the route a family rides, and only for the months it rides.
Early and after care: Billed by the month for the days a family uses.
Field trips: A few day trips in the year, billed when a family signs the permission slip.
